Way of the Warrior: comment about the final version by David Liu

Introduction:
Just got Way of the Warrior, final version with packaging today.
(Thanks Jim Noonan for FedExing me one hot off the presses!)
Here are some thoughts (I am not an employee of UI or NDI, blah blah
disclaimer, does not reflect anyone's thoughts except mine).
Packaging:
The box is standard 3DO size, opens like a bookcase, but does not
have those plastic rims. THe box is covered with a plasticized
cardboard which looks and feels remarkably like a graphite-polymer
composite (wierd). It is jet black (matte), with a LARGE skull in
great detail on the cover. The skull is lit from a sharp angle
from the left with a red-orange light and has a knife through the top.
I'd still prefer that all 3DO games come in unclosed jewelboxes like
most music CDs, but it looks like I won't be getting my wish soon...
Manual:
Thick, 23 pages, FITS IN JEWELBOX (yes!), in about 30lb glossy paper, full
color. Table of contents, intro, book of warriors, instructions, and
story + picture + two special moves for each character, then credits.
OK, I guess I might as well fess up to it... I did the voce effects
for Dragon. ("My dead grandfather fights better than you", etc.)
Interestingly enought, there is a warranty (90 days) on the disc, after
which you pay 5 bucks to get a new one. Under warranty it's free.
The game is rated 17, and on the back reads (HA HA HA)
"May contain graphic violence" I got lots of laughs from this...
Music:
I've never heard White Zombie before, but they sound AMAZING! It
is really unbelievable howbig a role music plays in a game like this.
It completely sets the mood of the game. I couldn't believe that
the music actually made me feel pumped while I was playing, and a
bit frenetic and nervous.
I wish EGM had this version...
Before you judge Way, you must play the final version, if not just
to hear the music which plays in ALL parts of the game (intro,
menus, cinemas, fights, etc.)
