I fired Doom up next to Slayer this morning so that I could get a direct comparison. Slayer is much less jaggedety than Doom at either of its graphics settings (I play Doom on the largest window possible). For example walk into the scientific control room on the first level of Doom and notice the extreme jaggies on the counter top from a distance. On the other hand, the programmers at Id did choose Doom's colors perfectly and Doom has much more detail and interesting things to look at. Slayer still seems smoother than Doom on my 486 66MHZ but I like the bobbing motion in Doom. Doom of course doesn't have really textured walls or doors and Slayer does. On the whole I'll repeat that I beleive Slayer should hold up well for the time being as an example of a Doom type game on the 3DO.
