Summary of the project

From a collection of temperature data sampled at weekly intervals stretching over a year for a number of cities, produce an animated surface. Surface height will correspond to temperature and appropriate colors will be mapped to temperatures.

What we have done

We choose to design the France map with an algorithm of Delaunay triangulation where all points represent towns or shapes. We have :

• 138 points for the shape
• 39 points for the town

We choose the green color to represent low temperatures and red color for the hot ones.

When the application starts, a frame appears :

For an example, we only design 3 towns. The animation is actived only when the pointer device is over the France map.

When you press Init button, you come back to the initial view and with the view button, you see the number of week which you have entered in the textfield. During the animation, you can see the number of week that you visualize.

This project was realized in VRML2.0 (for the 3D animation) and JAVA (for the treatment of the events).
